We strive to create a peaceful, safe environment in our clinic so patients can fully relax into the healing process!
WHAT TO EXPECT
A consultation will be performed to cover your health concerns and relevant history. During this time you will have an opportunity to ask questions or discuss concerns. Traditional diagnostic methods may be used to establish the root cause of your imbalance, including pulse reading and tongue inspection.
After the consultation, you proceed into the community room and take a seat in the recliner of your choice. Once seated, remove your socks and shoes and roll your pants and sleeves above your knees and elbows—you remain fully clothed during the treatment. After you are comfortably situated, your acupuncturist will begin the needling treatment. After needles are placed, they are retained for a period of time while you rest. The typical rest period is 30 minutes to 1 hour, but please feel free to stay as long as you like. When you feel you are sufficiently “cooked,” simply make eye contact with the acupuncturist or give a slight cough, and you will be promptly “unpinned.”
On subsequent visits, a very brief intake will be performed to gather necessary information. Talking is minimized in order to focus our attention on the acupuncture treatment itself. If you would like to speak to the acupuncturist at length, please schedule a separate consultation for that purpose.
